WCMD Winners Announced at PaperCrafts

So I decided to enter 4 cards into the WCMD contest over at PaperCrafts. After what seemed like an eternity they announced the 20 winners today, and I am one of them!! WooHoo! Happy dance breaks have been ongoing all day- did I mention that I am finally getting published, yep the March/April 2012 issue will feature one of my cards. As if that wasn't enough, there is an amazing prize pack worth $1,000- oh my goodness is this really real? I'm still pinching myself. Moxie Fab Inspired Card

Well what a week it has been here, a little crazy. During all the madness I popped over to the Moxie Fab Blog and discovered this lovely Tuesday Trigger: Finesse the Dress:

 Anyhow, I was inspired mostly by the color combination- really love the contrast. But I also love the stitching so I added some of that too, just in the opposite combination. So I put together a quick card from Jillibean Soup's Sweet and Sour Soup collection:

Materials List: Jillibean Soup/Sweet & Sour paper: Shredded Cabbage, Tomato Sauce & Bite Size Bits; Soup Label/sentiment: Cats eye/Chestnut brown ink: Martha Stewart/gemstones-blue; turquoise embroidery floss

Added a quick bite size bit for the inside greeting it reads: "You're only given a little spark of madness, you mustn't lose it..." by Robin Williams- Ha Ha love that quote, hopefully that leaves you smiling too. :)

Moxie Fab - Card Play Challenge

Greetings friends! I got some time to make up some cards this weekend and wanted to share this one created for the challenge over at the Moxie Fab blog. It is a card play theme so you can make a project interpreting that theme in your own way. I was inspired to make this fun paper-pieced card:

Materials used: Jillibean Soup/Watermelon Gazpacho- Yellow Bell Pepper, Seedless Cucumber & Ice Cubes; Sweet & Sour/alphabet stickers; Sweet & Soup/diecut; Typography/Button; Cats Eye/brown ink; yellow ribbon and blue embroidery floss.

NEW Basic Grey Blog Sketch Challenge

First off in honor of all of those who lost loved ones on this day ten years ago, my sincerest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you on this monumental day. May God bless you in ways you never imagined and may none of us ever take for granted the wonderful blessings in our lives.

On a much lighter note, I just wanted to share a layout I did this weekend. There is a brand new blog out there by a not at all new company, Basic Grey. They have been an industry powerhouse for seven years now with cutting edge design always at the forefront. I have long been a fan and was so excited to see their new blog and then a sketch challenge too! So I decided to give it a try, here is their sketch:

 Of course I had to change it up a little, so I rotated it to the left by a quarter turn and eliminated the title but then stayed true to the sketch beyond that. Here is my take:
