Moxie Fab Challenge- Random Fun Challenge

There are some really fun challenges going on at Moxie Fab blog this week to celebrate their release of the 365 Cards issue. So I had to join in the Random Fun Challenge, to create a paper crafted card that incorporates a button(s), a mustache(s), or an alcoholic beverage.
 I chose the mustache:
Here is what I came up with: Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto :)

Materials Used: My Minds Eye Paper, ribbon & brad, Jillibean Soup kraft card, Making Memories/shimmer alphabet, Basic Grey/Life of the Party-mustache sticker

Here's a close up of Mr. Roboto

Ha Ha, Hope it made you smile too. Have a great weekend!

The Color Room- 50th Palette Celebration

Over at the Color Room blog they are having a 50th Palette Celebration! There is a fantastic, and long blog hop- but I guarantee you won't be disappointed by what you see along the way. Those are some amazingly talented ladies, and they share tips and techniques as well as their works of art. So please go check it out, they are one of my favorite sites for inspiration.

Here is this weeks Palette and sketch (there is also a card sketch for anyone interested):

And this is my interpretation of it, Titled- "Ticket to Mischief" :)

Materials used: Basic Grey/Wander; My Minds Eye/Ooh La La, Alphabet Soup; Crate Paper/Restoration-border sticker; Jillibean Soup/Blue Bakers twine; Vintage buttons, white bazzill cardstock, tickets

Love this photo of Gabe from last year, that look he has on his face- pure mischief! And yes he is that ornery and then some!

Thanks for stopping by would love to know  what you think of this one.

Winter Traditions Challenge at Scrap and Stamp

There is a winter traditions challenge at Scrap and Stamp this week. So share a layout with us about something you do every winter and use at least one stamp. For me, we had a frosty day in the snow with Gabriel making his very first snowman. Here is how that layout turned out:

Materials Used: My Minds Eye/Colorful Christmas; Jillibean Soup embellishments: corrugated shapes, sugar picks, ribbon & Alphabean letter stickers; misc. buttons; Queen & Company/Pearls; Stampin Up/Snowflake stamp set.

It was a magical day and it is so much fun to see these first time experiences through your childrens eyes. Makes you feel like a child again yourself. That is why I am so excited for Christmas this year. Gabe is almost two and Aspen almost sixteen and they will be so much fun! Can't wait!

Fabric Dye Tutorial at Scrap and Stamp

There is a fabulous tutorial challenge up at Scrap and Stamp this week, it is how to use fabric dye on layouts by my friend Jowilna. It was really easy and the results are fantastic. I used turquoise fabric dye, mixed it with water in a small spray bottle and sprayed a piece of fabric and lace. If you look close you can see that I even used the lace as a mask on the left side of the fabric swatch. Then I heat set it with my heat embosser gun. Then you can instantly add it to your layout. So easy, right! So give it a try, here is my layout:

This is a special layout for a few reasons: 1) Julia was baptized that day at church camp (Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp); 2) It was Scott's first baptism and it came after several hours of discussion with both of us; 3) Angels were there with us rejoicing! I also added the bible verse Acts 2:38 which explains how we are to be baptized in Jesus Christ.

As far as the page goes, the colors of the photos really matched the palette of these papers by My Minds Eye/Ooh La La collection. A beautiful layout for a magnificent day, Praise God.

And When You Pray...

So I know I promised Easter photos next, but technically the photos in this layout are from Easter Sunday. I did this layout today for this sketch challenge at My Minds Eye (http://mymindseye.typepad.com/blog/2010/04/challenge-10-dream-big.html) blog and wanted to share it. This was the sketch:
It also had to use a line from a song called: Dream Big by Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand. So I chose the line that begins "And when you pray." Of course I instantly thought of the photos I recently caught of Gabriel's first attempts at praying. So here is my version of the above sketch:
There it is another first for Gabe, praying. I also sent out a phone video message today of him praying and playing the piano. Quite the combo act he's got. At the moment he and Daddy are playing carnival ride with a plastic toy bin that happens to have wheels. Never a dull moment around here. Happy Friday!
